5 Effective Exercises to Increase Breath-Holding Capacity
Effective exercises you can do regularly to increase your breath-holding capacity:
- Diaphragmatic Breathing Exercise
- Sit in a comfortable position
- Place one hand on your chest and the other on your stomach
- Slowly inhale through your nose, feel your stomach expand
- Hold for 4 seconds
- Slowly exhale through your mouth
- Interval Breath Holding
- Take a normal breath
- Hold for 10 seconds
- Release slowly
- Breathe normally for 30 seconds
- Increase duration daily
- Box Breathing Technique
- Inhale for 4 seconds
- Hold for 4 seconds
- Exhale for 4 seconds
- Wait for 4 seconds
- Repeat this cycle 5 times
- Pursed Lip Breathing
- Inhale through your nose for 2 seconds
- Purse your lips as if whistling
- Exhale slowly for 4 seconds
- Alternate Nostril Breathing
- Close right nostril and inhale through left
- Close both nostrils and hold
- Open right nostril and exhale
- Then inhale right, exhale left
